It’s old news that having a website is essential for a business. Here’s a refresher list of four of the top reasons to get a new site:
1. Consistent Brand Identity – You’ve spent a handful of cash on your new logo and business cards. They’re stylish and you can’t wait to hand a card out to anyone who passes you by. What’s next? Have your 16 year old nephew Jimmy create a $50 website for you, of course! Kidding aside, the last thing you want is to waste that beautiful new brand on a wonky, slapped together web presence. Your logo, website, print materials and social media presence must present a consistent face to your public. Brands that have a consistent visual language make a more memorable and powerful impression than those that don’t.
2. It’s SEO Optimized! – Your new website will be search engine optimized. This means basic SEO tasks will be completed to allow your site to be found by Google and other search engines. Each page will be reviewed for: keyword density, internal linking, sitemap usage, meta-tag creation and implementation and installation and tutorial overview of Google Analytics. Your site will be submitted to Google, Bing and dmoz.org search databases.
3. An Easy to Use CMS – WordPress is hands-down the preferred content management system for most businesses. It’s easy to learn and use. You and your team members can update your site content within two clicks. It is extensible with a myriad of free plugins to add functionality including adding ecommerce. And finally, it doesn’t require a special hosting package to run on so an economy account at Godaddy.com or Hostgator.com will work just fine.
4. Good design attracts customers AND keeps them on your site. – Have you ever been shopping at Whole Foods, seen a gorgeous product label and been so excited by its design that you bought the product regardless of if you’d use the product? Hmmm… Well, maybe that’s just me but you get the point – good looks attract the customers. You want the customers to stay on your site as long as possible so good copy and great design are essential.
